Stora Enso Timber is entering directly into the bio-fuel market 2008 by starting pellet production in Russia, Sweden and the Czech Republic. In addition to the investments already decided to be made in Russia (Impilahti and Nebolchi) production capacity will be built next to the sawmill operations also in Gruvön, Sweden, and Ždirec, Czech Republic.
Pellet capacity will reach 170 000 tonnes in one year’s time. With the Impilahti and Nebolchi start-ups in the second and third quarter of 2008, the expansion to Ždirec in Q3 2008 and the start-up of Gruvön in early 2009, the bio-fuel business is rapidly increasing its volume within Stora Enso Timber.
