Germany: Pine log price index split

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for pine rose only partially in April 2022. On average, log wood increased by 0.2% compared to March to a level of 87 points. B quality lost 3.1% to 97.9 points. 3/4 m lengths fell by 4.7% to 98.8 points.

C qualities recorded an increase of 4.1% to 83 points. 3 m lengths contributed to this with an increase of 5.8% to 96.6 points.

Alternativtext Pine pulpwood recorded a minus of 3.1% to 88.6 points in April. Spruce pulpwood rose by 6.3% to a value of 95.2 points. Douglas fir pulpwood increased by 3.1% to 66.1 points. The softwood pulpwood index increased by 2% to 90.2 points.

Year-on-year, the pine index rose 22.4%. B ranges increased by 18.4% – in a length of 3 to 4 m by 13.8%. C grades gained 26.3% compared to April 2021. 3m lengths gained 27.6%. Pine pulpwood exceeded the index level of the same month last year by 28%
